Couldn't find a thread about it (if there is, a mod can go ahead and delete this) so I'd thought I'd give a heads up that ancient coins and world coins are separated into their own forums now.

Can't remember where we discussed it before. In a few places, I believe. I've been wanting to do this for a while, just needed the tools (which the forum software update a few weeks back gave me) and the time to do it (wife and kids went to bed early tonight). :)

I'm a bit curious where the fuzzy dividers between ancient-medieval-world coins were drawn? ... for example, Mat's thread regarding Armenian Trams (1198-1219 AD) seems to have landed in World Coins ...

Oh sorry, Peter => great effort in creating separate forums (but I'm definitely still gonna flip-flop back and forth between the two sites)

    cheers.gif

Well on another coin forum I frequent the cutoff year for ancient/medieval and modern is 1600. Personally, that or 1500 I would be ok with.

All of the threads landed in World Coins, unless they were moved to the new Ancients forum. If you see any that need moving, either use the report button or send me a list of them.

Thank goodness for the move! Special thanks to Peter who made it possible.

Change is never fun but I'll get used to it. Meanwhile, I've reported dozens of World threads which need to be moved to Ancients and I'm only up to page 10 of World.

I had talked to Peter about it via PM a few months ago. Glad it happened.

Didn't we all talk about this a long time ago? Anyway its nice to see ancients getting its own section.

I think just about every Ancients collector that has transitioned to CT from elsewhere, have all said World and Ancients should be separated. I believe there was consensus even back when I joined, but the logistics/mechanics of it was seen as too arduous, or there may not have been enough Ancients collectors to warrant it's own section. Well, Peter has got it done and we need to make it so all his work is worthwhile. Thanks Peter.

I personally didn't really mind if we ancient collectors got our own section or not; I simply tried my best in not clicking on modern stuff that wouldn't interest me. But I give my thanks to Peter for giving ancients their own forum (sorry for not doing so earlier ).

Now the world collectors won't have to complain about us filling up their front page :D. Once the dust settles the separation should be nice. Thanks for your continued efforts to improve CoinTalk, Peter :).

I must admit that I kinda liked the old format (since I collect Canadian coins, it was convenient for me to have both coin categories on the same site) ...

=> but surprisingly, since we split-up the sites today, I have been surfing the other coin-sites more than ever!! (funny, the way the mind works, eh?) ... I even found myself checking-out the US Coin Site!! (huh, but I'm still not at all interested in that stuff)

    :joyful:

Sounds good! I'm more of an Ancient Coins collector myself. :)
