This is not an E-Bay problem, but I opened a case on this seller who failed to ship the coins on time. I paid on Nov. 11 and he didn't ship until the day before the EAD as Nov. 18th. What is strange is that the tracking shows he mailed from Hawaii, but the actual shipping invoice shows they were sent from Nevada. I still have an open case because he was late shipping after charging $ 10.00 for two coins sent in the same box.

Was the seller responsive? (I'm guessing no.)

Do you feel the seller did not meet the terms of the item listing? (I'm also guessing no, since you said they failed to ship the coins on time.)

If it were me, I would first contact the seller. Since it says you've already opened a case, I'd be clear with the seller (and/or eBay Customer Service, since if the seller didn't respond earlier they might not do so now) what your criteria would be to make you happy.

$10 is IMO an unreasonable charge for two coins...but playing devil's advocate, it was most likely in the item description that you agreed to when you bought the coin. I'd have contacted them before purchasing/winning the item to ask why they were charging an arm for shipping (see if we could get it down to a finger or two.)

You pretty much have figured it out. Everything you mention is correct, and I did write the person about not shipping and the cost. He has not replied as of yet. The coins were sent by USPS. I requested a refund ( $ 5.00 ) on shipping.

I'm not really seeing what you are so upset about. You paid on a holiday (tuesday), he could have shipped Wedn, Thurs, or Friday, and probably should have. Most do not ship on Saturday. He shipped Monday. Did you receive the coins? $10 might be over charge for the coins, depending on what they were. What I buy, that is a decent shipping price if insured. I travel some, so ship from other locations occasionally. Did you ask why shipping was delayed? What are you wanting out of him, an apology? Free coins? Would leaving him a negative make you feel better?

That's annoying but I wouldn't do anything as long as you get the coins. I have people wait a week to ship fairly often, and I might leave them fewer than 5 stars on shipping time but that's it. The $10 shipping charge would bother me. Did he not combine shipping after you assumed he would or did you know it was that much? If you knew it was that much then you don't have much to complain about, but if he refused to combine shipping that is a big mark against him in my book too.

I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that $10 is unreasonable. It probably depends on what the coins were worth. While I ship everything free of charge, every parcel worth $500 or more costs me more than $10 to ship, and that is driven by Hugh Wood Insurance insisting that certain services be used at certain value thresholds.

As for printing the shipping label in Nevada, and shipping from Hawaii. I'd give the benefit of the doubt, and consider the following possibility . . . perhaps this was a last minute sale before going on vacation, so the seller took the package with him to Hawaii, possibly staying in a remote area, needed a few days to conveniently get to a post office before dropping it off. I was in a similar situation in 2012, although I was able to ship the day after arriving in Kauai.

I wouldn't rub this seller too hard without first getting his side of the story.

Why did you bid if you didn't want to pay $10?

Most dealers that I have bought from use common sense and decency and will combine orders automatically. This seller appears to be a scammer on his shipping rates. Here is one of his feedbacks from another person.

Item shipped from Las Vegas NOT Hawaii Shipping $ unreasonable seller making $ Buyer: xxxxxxx

Did the auction say the shipping was $10.

Yep, each coin was specified, both on one invoice with the amount of the coin + $ 5.00 shipping for each coin.
Maybe I am just a nice guy, but I would have put both coins in the same box and only charged one shipping rate.

What price of coins are we talking here? Did he combine the coins on the same invoice and still charge $10, or keep the invoices separate?

    Were they shipped separately?

One invoice for two coins shipped in one box from Nevada, not Hawaii except tracking shows Hawaii as origination. Shipped one day before EAD by USPS. Coin cost + $ 10.00 shipping charge.

What is EAD? And what price were the coins?

Estimated Arrival Date Nov. 18th - Arrived Nov. 22. Less than $ 50.00 for both coins.

    $50 for both?

    Postage was excessive.

I would leave him low DSR for shipping, and possibly communication, but that's it
