Sorry no picture, I am at work. Been searching the internet looking to ID a coin I got today in the mail. Roughly 25mm. Either nickel or copper/nickel. One side has a tall skinny building, possibly a Temple. Asian characters below and above the building. The other side has 2 characters inside leaves/foilage. I want to say Chinese but can't find a match. Thanks in advance!
Photo please? Thailand has lots of temples on their coins but I assume you'd know the difference between the two written languages.
Tall skinny temples would not be typical of either Chinese or Japanese coins. Thailand yes, but China and Japan show low, wide temples.
Thank you. See why I am stuck. One side almost looks Korean. Still at work. I will get a picture later this morning. Maybe it's just a tall building...almost like a "jungle hut"??????
East Hopei (Japanese puppet state). 2 chiao 1937, copper-nickel. The single release only. Number in Krause: Y#520. Best regards.
Hard to believe but in another lot I found the other East Hopei coin. The smaller 2 chiao coin. COOL!
I think you meant 1 jiao coin. Assembling a whole set of East Hopei coins can be difficult. There are known counterfeits for this series.
