interesting 1971 Lincoln

    The line in front of the forehead isn't dirt, it's similar smeared metal. There are flecks in front of the tip of the hair of the head too. It's under the letters but on top of the field....

    ah gee--Wexler for $5.00 to see if its worth sending it in to tpg-third party grading--for about $75.00-heck just a thought

    Tom, I would try an acetone soak just to be 100% sure it's not glue or epoxy. I'm not saying it is glue, but I've seen coins on here that looked like something, yet turned out to be glue.

    OK I'll soak it tomorrow. Raised areas are from holes so these would be die chips?

    I've found coins that had glue and I thought they were something until I realized it.

    interesting--never thought--clean the cent and make sure it isn't glue--good call--let us know

    I soaked it. Now the stuff is gone and there are green spots where it used to be. Good call

    See, that proves how tricky epoxy/glue can be. I thought that looked like metal for sure. It just popped in my head to say soak it, because of a previous thread. Well, at least now we know. Sorry though, tom.

    It was the same color as the metal. Clear glue.... Hahaha
