I heard PCGS was dropping the ball lately. I wonder why they thought it was OK to slab that one with the gouge behind Lincoln.

Coin #2 from your last picture set is my favorite

I am not sure how much it helps, but it is not a gouge. That is a lamination.

That's true, it is a lamination. One of the sets I bought was 70% laminations. The dude was trying to build an entire Lincoln set of error coins.

Congrats. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the first coin in your pics have verdigris? Did you give the acetone baths before sending them to PCGS? Sorry if you already answered this questions.

Anyway, I liked #2 the best.

I didn't touch them. I just mailed them off expecting 1 or 2 to grade and the rest to slab as genuine. These are my first ever Lincoln cent submissions and my first S VDB'S. I don't even know how to grade Lincolns! I figured they would grade XF40, VF35, Fine details, and VG details!

Just WOW, wish you had acetone/VerdiCare'd them first.

IF those are the best photos this so-called seller would provide, I suggest running, not walking, away. With that said, I don't like what I'm seeing, even with less than ideal photos on a very small screen, but think I'll respectfully leave at that.

You have $1,200 to spend on coins and you're gonna buy the rarest Lincoln wheat cent in really nice condition in a 2x2 flap from a person you don't know on Craigslist. Is that right?

(and it doesn't even look right to me, a newbie)

The 38-D walker is definitely fake. The design isn't accurate. Also the 09 S VDB is a counterfeit. Even in the small pics you can see it has a "copy" look to the proportions and design elements. With those 2 being fake, I'm betting the whole lot is.

Anytime someone says, "from grandpa's collection," I assume his grandpa was a Chinese.

I asked the guy if i can see the coins and take pictures today, to get an expert opinion, and he said he does not want to do business with me, as Im becoming a bag, and then end up not buying the coins and wasting his time. My yellow flag as already up, but after his reply. my Red flat went up.. So i told him, if that is how you feel, then im sorry for wasting your time.

Better late than never on the red flag.

Since you're wisely no longer interested, perhaps you could post the craigslist ad? I for one would like to see Mr. High Class' approach.
