Hello, my name is Ruth I received a dime from the local gas station in change. I noticed 1 dime was smooth and shiney. There are no raised details except slightly on the nose area . It was difficult to take a good photo due to the bright reflection from the almost chrome look any suggestions on how to get a clearer pic without the brightness blocking out the entire image, they are welcome. This is a 2022 dime. Can anyone please tell me if this is a error coin? Or if rare or valuable over 1 cents? Thank you in advance for any answers.
I appoligize for no pic I'll try again. I can't seem to figure out how to post the pic I'll try again in the morning. Again my apologies
Keep trying. Sometimes new accounts take a day or so for the data to propagate to the servers. It took 2 days for me back in 2017 when I joined CT. BTW…Welcome! We are here to help you, just be able to take constructive criticism. You’ll be up to speed in no time…Spark
Welcome. It could be an error coin or a damaged coin, but there's really no way of saying for sure without a picture of it. Sorry. Even it if it IS an actual error (in the best case scenario, say a grease-filled die or something), on a 2022 dime it's still unlikely to be worth a large sum, so don't get your hopes up too high. However, if it does turn out to be a significant error, it will indeed be worth more than face value, at least. That's IF it is really an error and not some kind of PMD (post-mint damage).
Try asking a friend or family member.. Many of these younger kids can upload anything pretty quick. In the meantime we can listen to the following song..
Good morning, Ruth. Is there a raised rim on the coin? If there isn't then you most likely have a damaged coin. The details were sanded or ground off. This is considered PMD. Please when you can get us some photos.
Since you said it's a 2022 dime, I assume the date's still visible. Is it clear, or faint? What about the other lettering on the obverse (heads side) of the coin? Does the reverse look normal? Welcome to CoinTalk!
