Here's a section that will be of interest to the British Commonwealth numismatists here, especially those who are interested in the numismatic history of the Indian Princely States. It is about the coins of Bahawalpur, whose monarch was called the Amir.Bahawalpur acceded to the Dominion of Pakistan upon independence in 1947.The ruling Amir at that time was Al-Haj Sir Sadiq Mohammed Khan V Abbasi.Bahawalpur retained its autonomy within Pakistan until 1955,when the Bahawalpuri monarchy was removed from power. The only coins that occasionally turn up are the 1/2 Pice & 1/4 Anna coins dated AH1359 (1940).The obverse has a very regal portrait of the Amir facing left. The reverse depicts a Toughra. Aidan.
