Hey everyone! This is obviously damaged but what about the date? That and some of the lettering in WE aren't there. Is that purely damage? IMG_20230214_145947.jpg IMG_20230214_145947.jpg IMG_20230214_145837.jpg

Hello! To answer your question: No. It's purely damaged. Sorry.

The date is damaged as is the edge of the coin as you stated. The missing WE is from a grease filled die when it was minted. The damaged makes it difficult to tell.

Interesting. I wonder how the damages rearrange the relief so drastically. I mean the loop in the 9 is opened and connected to the 1 and the 1 is completely out of line. That's amazing. I think I'm keeping in anyways. Thanks guys! IMG_20230214_145837~2.jpg

Classic "road rash" parking lot cent.

Sometimes it's funny how the lettering can get affected when the gouges move the metal around.

    Yes, purely damaged.

Looks like it also spent at least some time in a dryer as well. As the rim around the entire coin is rounded inward.

Copper is a soft metal. It doesn’t take much force to move it. On coins, a hit to a letter or a number can easily move or change it into something else.
