Hi guys, so this is one I am bidding on that I have never seem something similar to it. The current owner says it is higher in weight than a normal lincoln penny and it is silver in color. Any help would be great.

I would say, badly abused 1943 steel penny as that would explain the weight and color. as for the condition..... Rock tumbler comes to mind...

If it were a steal penny it wouldn't have the lincoln memorial on the reverse. Thanks for your thoughts though. Plus like I stated, the current owner has said that it has more weight than a normal lincoln penny.

Yes, strange, but I wouldn't want it no matter how much you'd pay me to take it.

I think it's awesome. Hence why I am posting. No matter if it is PMD or not, just cool looking.

Looks like it may have been rolled out before it became what it is now ? NEET

    Possible long term dryer coin.

As for the color... No clue.

Since he did not state a specific weight, perhaps he was comparing it with a post 1982 zinc cent ( 2.5 grams +/-) and the unknown is a 1959- 1982 bronze memorial ( 3.11 +/- grams).

Dryer Coin. I have a lincoln & nickel similar but not with the bend. Here is a pic someone posted to me on another forum of dryer coins.

    Modern coins are zinc.

Chelating agents in laundry detergents probably took the copper plating off.

    Really? All of them?

I would bet that his statement is a subjective one and that he hasn't actually weighed it. If he had he would most likely have given you an actual weight and not just "it weighs more". Also blowing up the image it appears to be a 2000 something dated cent which would make it a Zincoln. Loss of some of the copper plating would also explain the silver color.
