My digital camera just can't get the detail so this is a photoshop job I did but it looks the same as my coin.

Pretty much, there is a raised line going through the date which appears to be 1916. There is no detail below this line.

Just wondering if this is a stamping error of some sort.

Howdy Antony - Welcome to the Forum !!

Can't tell without seeing the actual coin of course. But if your coin is similar to the pic you provided I suspect the cause may be a cud - a small break in the die resulting in raised metal on the coin where the piece of die is missing.

I figured it was a cud, but it's so smoothe. Other cuds I have seen pictures of seemed rough to me. But, yeah, the photoshop looks identical. Sorry I can't get real pictures to you. And only that line that divides the detail is raised. The rest below is smoothe and level with the rest of the coin.

A better picture would help. It does not look like a CUD and the coin appears misshapen.
