a 1951 with part of the 9 arcing off to the 5 and a 1954 with the s mint mark under the 5. I thought there are supposed to in the middle of the 9 and 5 thanks for any help Gabe
the 1951 is post mint damage, something struck the coin causing movement of the copper. the 1954 is normal. prior to 1990 the mintmark was punched into the working die by hand and anywhere in the space below the date is considered normal.
I have one just like that do you think I should keep in my error coins pile or regular pile. Also have a question Ziggy9 said that they hand punched the mint mark so does it matter if the mint mark is higher or lower then other ones I have one that goes up into the numbers
