    How do you tell of it is a red / red/brown / brown?

    Both are brown.

    Brown. Red would look closer to this, I tried to get a close approximation to album. lighting , etc. With the rare coins, one should always look at the color carefully. Since all I can see are your photographs, I would be suspicious of the 09-svdb, so have it checked for recoloring.

    As I would say was Red-Brown: Same coin, 2 different light sources.

    Maybe others can post examples to help, but there has always been a lot of disagreement.

    Look in your pocket at a 2014 cent.

    That should be red.

    look at an older coin, that is brown
