Yah, my sweet wife seems to like old books as much as I love ol' coins => so good enough ... I always love buying her some stocking-stuffers!!

This year, I've ordered a couple of potential winners (or losers? => who knows, right?)

    ... anyway ...

Bachelor #1 was my favourite book-read in High School English ...

=> Lord of the Flies (First edition, UK 1954)

Oh, here are a bunch of seller's photos ...

Bachelor #2 is a Hail-Mary ... it is not a first edition (1850's), but it is a sweet series that's 111 years old (a 1903 series of five cool lookin' books)

=> The Raven Edition, The Works of Edgar Allan Poe (Five Volumes)

yah, I love buying her these sweet books => it's almost as fun as buying archaic coins!! (man, my chick is fricken golden!!)

=> oh, and this is merely a heads-up if you studs haven't started thinking about Christmas presents (yah, it sneaks up on ya ... big time!!)

    Cheers, brothers

Yah, I bought 'em both ...

I admit that the first edition Lord of the Flies is a definite winner ... but the cool cloth-bindings on the Edgar Allan Poe series is sure to impress as well (I hope)

    ... anyway ...

Hey => I hope that Mrs. Bing is feelin' well and I hope that you guys have a great winter and festive season (yup, it's just around the bend, my friend)

    Cheers, Bing

Huh? ... wow, it's pretty quiet on Remembrance Day, hey?

Curious? ... is this USA Remembrance day as well? ... occasionally, we seem to have stat-holiday differences, eh?

oh well, I like you either way => you rock "USA" ...

    ... anyway ...

Oh, here are a couple of other "first edition" books that I gave to my sweetie over the last couple of years (gawd, I'm cool)

Steve - you just fulfilled my present shopping for the next several years. I hadn't considered first edition books for my wife but she would love all of these!

Does she read these or are they untouchable? BTW, When I was in High School, Lord of the Flies was popular reading but we could not tell the teacher or get credit for it. It was still 'dirty' then. We were allowed to read Huckleberry Finn (now off most lists for language). Times change.

Ummm, my cool wife is able to do whatever she wants ...

Oh, and unlike myself, she is able to read a book and not even crack the spine (she is very proud of her books and her "bookness")

=> yah, she really does rock in pretty much 100% of the important categories ...

From my understanding you shouldn't open the books all the way like that to preserve the spine. These are a bit more fragile than our coins!

I am very jealous. If I had the money I would collect books and coins, amongst other things. The oldest book I have currently is an1890s biography of Sir John A Mcdonald published shortly after his death.

That's awesome ... ummm, I'm not too sure if my wife would like it, but I'm 100% confident that I'd like it!!

    => so cool

Cool, first edition books, I remember reading some of those as a kid. I even thought about trying to collect some 1st edition books myself. But with all the crap I already collect it would mean less space to walk in my place and possibly sleeping in the bathroom. :(

Oh, by the way, I bailed on the Edgar-A-Poe series (yah, my wife is wanting to save-up for even more home renos, so the fact that I was about to spend too much on her X-mas present was about to back-fire on me!!) ... so I throttled-back and just ordered the Lord of the Flies ...

... old dog, new trick (listening)

    ;)
