I've heard that one existed, read about it in Breen's Encyclopedia but never saw a picture of one till today. Is this the real deal? Does anyone know more about this?
I personally think any of the early age on thes teen are really worth a lot and are rare just take a look at the Red Book
the earliest age proof that I had to be a 1936 or 1937 proof I have seen them go for a decent amxount
I think you will find that the general consensus is that there are no 1917 proof Lincolns and the coin pictured above is not a proof. And I mean from those who have examined that specific coin.
I would be nice to see better images of said coin. Does anyone know who the owner is? Are there better images?
There are some really well struck 1917s out there but none have been found that the services agree with it being a matte proof.
You got that right , I asked rlm's cents for a well struck cent last year and he sent me a coin you could count the hairs on Lincolns beard , a '17 of course .
