Forgive my arrows it's from my phone. The area I have two arrows, in between them, is it raised?

And this crack goes from the inside of the rim to the other arrow?

    Some quick definitions:

Die Crack - A broken die which will impart a "raised" area on a coin.

Plating - Plating is a process where an extremely thin layer of one metal gets overlayed onto another metal. The only coin from the US Mint which is plated is the Lincoln Cent and the plating occurs well before the US Mint ever receives the blank. US Quarters are not plated. They are a sandwiching of a thin layer of Copper-nickel over a 100% Copper Core.

Typically, since 1965, Roosevelt Dimes, Washington Quarters, Kennedy Half Dollars and Eisenhower Dollars are referred to as CnClad.

With CnClad coins, occasionally one or both of the Clad Layers comes off of the coin.

Thanks I was a working on that once I got her to explain a bit more about what she really may have. Is it missing or raised in the areas I had marked.
Of course I wouldn't have explained it as well as you have 19Lyds :)

Hi I have a quarter just like hers it's 1974 and I originally thought it was counterfeit, I have been collecting coins for about 4 yrs know me and my son almost 14 started when he found an Buffalo Nickel while metal detecting, we got Lucky and a convenient store had a jar full of Dollar coins, half dollars, a lot of very unique coins he let me buy at face value but unfortunately about a year after starting to collect we had $2,652.64 in coins at face value that someone stole out of our home since that happened my son has not shown as much interest in collecting coins, It broke his heart.
