Anyone ever see anything like this before? I have about 30 that I can identify so I will put one or two up a night and see what comes up. Thanks guys/gals.
That's a very unusual item. The reverse inscription could possibly give it away as being a souvenir of an exhibition in London,England. As to when it was produced,I don't have a clue. Aidan.
This page http://libweb.princeton.edu/libraries/firestone/rbsc/aids/newman/newman3.html lists a medal commemorating the "Exhibition of Leonardo Invention New York 1940". So maybe your medal - though obviously a different one - was issued on the same occasion? Christian
Found an identical token - does 1940 / New York seem like the best attribution? Was this an admission token?
I've seen several similar pieces, mostly with same obverse and rope/shield design on reverse but with different wording or numbers. I believe these are souvenir medallions from different stops of the traveling exhibition. It's highly unlikely to have been an admission token, or really a "token" of any kind.
