    Thanks, Ron Henry.

I've been the latest unlucky member of my household to get the flu and strangely enough I didn't feel bad at all while I was sorting through coins last night...Silver has its medicinal properties :)

Way to go, jlogan, I like that percentage!

    Thanks, Ethan.

Here's some tricks I've had to learn over the years...

I've had to change things up a bit in the way I approach ordering and depositing coin to keep the peace.

When I choose a bank to order from, I'm straightforward with the vault teller as to my intentions but promised to never "dump" them back at that banking center. I also take them the occasional dozen donuts or bagels to show my appreciation. An act of kindness goes a long way. I also have learned over the years that ordering the coins from a bank that handles a lot of retailer transactions helps as they are usually placing large orders for coins anyways. Also, making sure you pick up your coins the day they call is important because usually the banks (at least around here) have small vaults so they are always worried about having enough room. Additionally, asking the teller what limit they are comfortable ordering for you and sticking to that amount on a weekly basis seems to be taken well. In other words, don't get overzealous with ordering at order dozens of boxes if the teller has said he/she would be comfortable only ordering half a dozen boxes.

One more thing...Your relationship with the bank where you deposit the coins is nearly as important as the relationship you have with the vault teller where you order the coins. There are several banking centers and multiple banks where I deposit coins. Some offer poly-bags where I can just dump the coins into bags of $500 and send them off to be counted and re-deposited into my account. Others require the coins to be hand rolled but give me instant access to cash. Recently I asked the teller who was receiving my coins if she had any problems with the last deposit and she said no, but that she has to remove all the coins I've hand-rolled and pour them into poly-bags to be send out. I mentioned if it was easier for her, I would be happy to just do that for her if she gave me enough bags and it would save her a step. She agreed. She continued by stating that she would give me cash in return also and that I wouldn't have to wait to have them sent off to be counted.

Since that interaction, all I do is bring her in bags on a Monday and head down to my other bank on a Monday afternoon to pickup my new boxes. Then search and repeat.

I get two boxes every week, and dump at another bank. One thing, the dump bank has actually become my most used bank for everything else, it all started with them wanting me to open a back account to which I said can I turn in halves here? The rest is history.

Went to my main pickup bank and got $7 in halves (since they were out of dimes) All skunks though but neat coins to give my nephew.

i also searched $3,200 worth of $1, $2, $5 and $10 bills ($1000 in tens, $1500 in fives, $400 in twos and $300 in ones) last week too, but they were all series 2013 and 2009 :(

now i got reported for SAR (whatever that means) to the IRS for redepositing that today. Is this a bad thing?

It's not you, it's the banking regulations. Anyone depositing significant cash may be reported. You might be a drug dealer trying to launder money.

Dunno...new rules within the bank? Everything I've searched for SAR keeps coming up with that. You should maybe ask them.

i thought they only reported if it was more than $10,000.00 though. heck, my account only has about $6,500.00 including the $3200 deposit. and i withdrew the $3200 from the same bank last week (in hundreds). the teller just told me it was something they had to do now and it really wouldnt affect me, the IRS probably wouldnt even investigate unless they had reason to believe i was doing something illegal.
