Yah, I am totally the dude that tries to merely buy one coin from each Roman ruler and then move-on and try to tick-off another ...

=> but oh my God!! => these Alexandrian AE Drachms of Antoninus Pius are definitely
my crack-cocaine?!! (I can't seem to get enough of these babies!!)

    ANTONINUS PIUS. Æ DRACHM
    138-161 AD
    Diameter: 33 mm
    Weight: 23.88 grams
Obverse: Bare-headed and draped bust right
Reverse: Euthenia reclining left, resting on a sphinx, holding grain-ears
Other: brown patina, old scratches under patina

Antoninus Pius Ae Drachm Sphinx a.jpg Antoninus Pius Ae Drachm Sphinx b.jpg

... sure, I realize that this poor ol' dog is a wee bit tired and worn, but wow, I love the comfy feel of the coin and I "love" the cool reverse with the good ol' sphinx as the arm-rest!! (extremely cool)

Oh => please post your cool Antoninus Pius examples (and any sphinx coins you may have kicking around) ...

There are some beautiful coins being posted lately => let's see a few of yours!!

    Cheers

Pretty sure this makes "11" ............ I know, eh? (I think my closest rivals are Hadrian and Trajan with "3" examples each)

... oh, and I have "3" Augustus as well (Augustii?) ...

Very cool. Im a "one per emperor" collector too but its hard to not sometimes add some extras just because the coin rocks. I have several of Pius myself.

Oh, and honestly => other than those big fat Ptolemys, there is no better feelin' than flipping one of these fat drachm-babies in your hand (30-35 mm, 20+ grams)

    => yummy, yummy, yummy!!

    :woot:

nice new coin stevex, i've got to get one of these big alexandrian babies. i love i nice heavy, thick coin...and i dig the alexandrian style.

maybe a good candidate for an edge shot to show thickness?

I have several previously unposted coins of A-Pi but have to take or edit pictures. I'll drop them here on Thursday. Meanwhile, here are a few already photographed. Nothing as fantastic as your awesome set :)

The problem I'm seeing is every time Steve buys another on, I can't remember what I showed last time so I'm probably showing the same AP Alexandrians each time. I do not try to keep up. These 7 are all I have but not all are drachms.

Nice new pickup! Really wouldn't mind a sphinx arm-rest, and not just one on a coin.

Shown these all before, but not together.
