Was not sure where to post this question. Just curious if there was something about varieties on proof shield nickels. I see lots of stuff on shieldnickels.net for circulation strikes, but nothing for proofs. Mark
Thanks for the reply. I actually tried that and maybe I just do not understand. Do the FS numbers in the cherry pickers guide apply to proofs also? And what really suprised me was the 1879/8 was not listed. As a matter of fact nothing was listed for 1877,78 or 79. I sent an email to Howard asking some questions and will see if I get a response. I also saw this last night and I am not sure what this means. 1879 S1-0000 79-0 S1-3000 79-1 S1-5000 79-100 If I get a chance to night I will try to take some pictures of the coin. I can use my microscope to get a few shots of what I am talking about and see if maybe someone can help me here. Thanks again!
Got a response from Howard and have sent some pictures. Howard thinks the leave are strike doubling, but wanted some pictures. To me the date looks repunched , but it might be strike doubling also. The reason I think repunched is because of the little spot in front of the primary one and because it looks like the 8 has an image left and right of the primary 8. Opinions?
