While 1974 would be the second year of independence, it would only be the first anniversary of independence.

I thought the 1974 first year of anniversary 100 dollar featured a reverse of two flamingoes

I thought there was something bothering me about this coin, so a bit of research suggest it is a gold plated silver trial strike

    ZoidMeister Hamlet Squire of Tomfoolery . . . . .

    Looks more like a parakeet . . . .

Yep, Expat, you’ve hit it on the nose!
    Bullseye!!
The 1974 pattern for the upcoming 1975 coin - it is PL uncirculated but liked it so much that have the proof pattern as well.

Small parrots do look a lot more like parakeets. Many think they should look like macaws but they surely do not.

I have the 1971 4 piece proof set/ and the 1973/ 74. I started off in life collecting modern proof coins/ sets. Later I went into ancient/ medieval/ renaissance/ baroque/ rococco era AV coinage.

Nice switch. I’ve gone somewhat the opposite direction in that my main focus is/was late pre-decimal GB bronze and silver, but so little of what I am missing is either not available or priced at 5 figures and above so are basically not available. and so even though these pictured pieces are from well over 10 years ago, I have a developing “side” collection of Br. Colonial, Caribbean, and even some France.
some are quite attractive and/or relatively inexpensive and/or of exceeding rarity.
