An error or post mint damage?

    I found this in a nickel roll and I'm not quite sure what to make of it. Suggestions?

    Rim dings can be caused in many ways, all after the minting process has ended, but damage is not collectible, and never adds a premium to the coin's value.

    Something hard struck the coin, undoubtedly with more force than just dropping in the chute of a coin machine.

    Yea, that coin is worth exactly five cents.
