Got done searching those two boxes of dimes from above, and the first box was great.

    1961 Rosie
    1963 Rosie
    (2) 1964 Rosie

The second box was a skunk. All in all pretty good. Gonna pick up another 1,000 of dimes tomorrow! My week totals in pic below.. image.jpg

thanks, oddly enough it was the third 1950-D I've found, I've found two 1939-D's, but I can't find a 44-D, 44-S, or 43-D for the life of me. I probably haven't searched enough.

Picked up two boxes today, I've gone thru only one so far, and I'll get to the other After work.

First box was a skunk. I'm on a two skunk streak.

Hoping it's just a fluke. I have 8 boxes that provided at least 2, and now 2 skunk boxes.

I'm still plenty hopeful. Last nights box yielded 4 silvers.

I'd rather find the 39d and 50d! Those are the only two I'm missing. I've found multiples of the others.

Well, took a shot at Iks yesterday. $1300 - found one Morgan 1880-o in BU 60 or better redbook $75... nice! also one BiCnt-p v1 au. Still have $75 in 1972-p to look through for a v-2. Think its time to order a microscope for my computer. Looking through the loop is wearing me out.

    Hello, Softmentor:

I've often thought about searching Ikes. So that was a Morgan that you found just in a bank roll of dollars or how did you come by the Ikes to search?

$30 nickels - combination of CWR and BWR. Five rolls turned out to be solid BU from 2003-04. Two of those were in plastic shrink wrap, but three were white paper wrappers marked United States Monetary Exchange. Not familiar with that company, but I'm guessing it was a gimmick to sell overpriced nickels when they were issuing the Westward Expansion series. Any ideas?

As for the rest, only 6 pre-1960 "keepers" in the pile.

    $50 CWR dimes - Skunk.

Doing a box of pennies, nothing too great so far, until this beaut. Easily the best wheat I've found in a roll so far. 1958-D. Can't get a good shot of it; using my phone , but I hope it at least captures the luster of it!

Just finished my 3 boxes of cents for the week. Nothing fantastic but there were a couple neat finds:

    37 wheats (oldest: 1939)
1 1943-P Steelie. Only my 3rd or 4th from BWR. They usually get picked out by the magnets.
    1998 WAMx2 (My 37th and 38th)

One box Loomis halves, found 1 40% in the last roll. Pretty close to a:panda: (that's supposed to be a skunk).

I order them at the bank, they come in Federal Reserve bags of $1,000. My bank actually requires an order of $2,000 minimum. From that size order, you will probably be able to put together a set of AU55 or better with lots of BU in there. Pretty certain you will find BiCent Types I, I usually find more than one type I, this bag was less with only the one. The 72 type 2 is a tough one, I've only found one in my search of about $6,000 Ikes.
The Morgan was in the bag of $1,000. Average is about one silver dollar per $2,000 searched, but it is a fun find. This one was nice in that it was worth a little more than melt.

How do you get rid of your dumps?

First I call them Drops not dumps, it is a small thing but I think the attitude that goes with that mind set makes a difference.
I drop at a bank where I keep a savings account. Savings accounts do not pay anything in interest but the banks need some numbers on their ledger of hard deposits so it is in their interest to have savings accounts. Also they do have some people ask for halves and dollars so they can move some coin that way.
I don't really ask "is it ok?" I just presume with a nice polite smile and make the deposit. The little basket of premium dates (I grow them.) that I give them now and then kinda' helps al little too. : )
and, I do give out dollars as tips at restaurants.
Halves I give as change at the Farmers Market where I sell my dates and other produce. I have noticed that I'm going through more than I thought, about $60 per week now at the markets. Another $30 per week in fast food, gas, retail purchases.

ask your bank where is their main branch. You will probably have better luck at a main branch.
My bank is a small local bank with only 5 locations in our area, so won't be much use to you out in the mid-west. I'm in So Cal.

Thanks again for the info, Softmentor...I think I will be ordering a few bags of dollars if I can find them at a main branch after I make a run on CWRs the remainder of this week.

I've been pleasantly surprised with the process I've made with the teller there I make my drops. This specific bank, like most banks I frequent, want all loose coins to be rolled prior to bringing them in (no coin machine on the premises). If I'm not concerned about getting instant cash I do have the option of an unverified count which takes about a week to get the cash deposited into my account. This week I spent a considerable amount of time re-rolling $5,000 worth of halves to have access to that cash immediately for a coin delivery I had made the week prior. While the teller process my transaction she mentioned that they have to unroll them all and put them into the polybags anyways once I leave so I asked if it would be possible to just do that for them before I come in while still having the benefit of having instant access to my cash upon deposit. She agreed and I have a new favorite drop spot!

I sorted through 8 boxes of halves tonight and was pleased with the result, 89 silver halves. 85 are 40% with two being NIFC 1976-S Bicentennial silver halves, and four are 90% with one being a 1958-D Franklin. I also found 3-4 "S" proofs and a half dozen 2005 - Present NIFC halves.

Now that I've gone through them for silver, I'm going to go back through them tomorrow looking for variety coins from my cherry-pickers guide.
