Check this out...this guy was cleaning coins when he came across some 1955 cents with doubling...that just might be rarer than the classic 1955 DDO (in his opinion). http://cgi.ebay.com/1955-DDO-NEW-LO...505QQihZ010QQcategoryZ524QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Plus if u look closely there appears to be a partially filled die on the r in trust. The i in liberty is way doubled or some one has a good morph program. a2J
He says that he CLEANS his coins. He doesn't even explain what 'DDO' stands for.I certainly don't know what that means. Aidan.
I think it means "double die obverse"... but it's hard to say, 'cuz it's hard to keep a straight face reading a description like that one. 0 bids, for some strange reason. "Oh, yup yup yo, yup yup yo, I wuz jus' sittin' around one day, cleanin' some coins... and whut pops up but this fabulous museum piece ! I'll jus' send it off to PCGS for attribution, then donate it to the Smithsonian... NO WAIT ! I think I'll sell it on E-Bay..."
"This coin is circulated and cleaned so I wouldn't have the foggiest idea what grade to give it. I clean my pennies, because I love to see the beauty of the coin and I'd have never discovered these coins if I hadn't cleaned them. I would give this coin an EF in my book." He does not have the foggiest idea what grade to give it but why not an EF. That's from his book of course. One I would strongly discourage anyone from using.
Jumpingrat,it goes to show what wankers some vendors on online auctions (not only eBay!) really are! That vendor IS one wanker who had a brain explosion. Aidan.
