I found this interesting. It has a die crack on both sides, almost in the same area. You can see a rise on the N on the reverse, along with a die chip on the E next to it. The chip is on the first leg of the E. The rack runs from the rim and through the C. On the obverse, the crack runs directly from the W at the top of Lincoln's head, and the shoots SW. There's a die chip on Lincoln's forehead.
You have a decent example of a radial die crack. Die cracks are fairly common, even for Lincoln cents, but this would be a radial die crack worth keeping. Chris
Did not know that about radial die crack. Thank you for the info. It's going into a plastic holder now.
I was going back over this coin and I can't believe I missed this. I don't know what you would call this, but it on the reverse between the first and second column.
This is the best right now. There's a die chip on the very last column. It appears that the last column may be DD, I can see two tops to the last column and lines that run south. The first column also looks like it could possibly be a DD
You really seem to know your stuff. Thank you for helping out. I don't know if you've seen my other post but I have s 1983 cent that has something going on the bottom of the obverse. Would you mind taking a look at it?
The problem with your images is that it looks like you are using only one light source which tends to wash out details on one part of the coin while under-illuminating the rest. You should use at least two light sources positioned at about 10 & 2 (on the clock). Chris
If I knew everything, I'd be rich. Let's put it this way.....At my age, I try to remember as much as possible. Do you have a link to the 1983? Chris
