    Broadstruck coins were made (accidentally?) without the usual collar die that keeps modern coins all the same diameter and adds reeding or other edge decorations. All ancients are broadstruck, technically but they are more scarce in moderns.

    This came in the mail. I paid $1 over melt for it. The date is hard to read in the picture but it is 1903. It is the lowest mintage florin of this design at 995,000.

    well my Krause says KM#5 1 shilling, .925 silver weight-5.6555 g. or 0.1682 oz.
    mintage-397,000
    grade/value
    F-$2.00 VF-$4.00 XF-$15.00 UNC-$40.00
    nice early date. not sure what price I would put on it. $15.00 ?
    Krause values may differ than real market values... ?

    I do have a 1866 3 pence EF 45 Icg graded same as the shilling but smaller than a dime being lower mintage with obverse type and South Africa.

    that 1897 shilling is nice, i have an 1896 shilling that i got a while back. those rhodesia coins are nice too, i have sone silver 3 pence and 6 pence, eventually i will het the shilling and 2 shilling in silver

    Edward VII's mom came to live with me today. She isn't the prettiest but she does look better in hand than the pictures and for just a bit over spot, I can't complain.
