1928-D Standing Liberty Quarter. I am pretty sure this won't grade. And will probably get either a Genuine: Cleaned or Genuine: Questionable Color grade from PCGS. But I thought it was cool looking and it was only $21.50 -- and with the silver content perhaps worth $7 or so, there was little risk. What interested me was how the toning only appeared in less worn areas of the coin -- if it was cooked I wonder how they did that. The seller wrote: "This coin comes from a silver collection that has been in storage for the past 40 years. I make no claim as to the grade of the coin, so please examine the photos." Certainly is an interesting looking coin.
Here are my last two purchases from the show last weekend. I've wanted a Maine commemorative for a while now and happened to see this one I liked at a good price. And I couldn't say no to this one at only $1 A New Zealand 5 cent piece.
Another Daniel Carr overstrike fantasy coin for me. 40% Silver "Washington Quarter" in simulated circulated finish. Only 59 minted. Seller's picture, and mine to follow when this one and the Kennedy arrive.
How much did that set you back? I'd like to have one but with the eagle reverse. A 1976 dated quarter with the drummer boy would be cool as well.
They're about 35 bucks depending on exactly which one you get: http://www.dc-coin.com/fantasyover-struckusacoins.aspx I was thinking about getting one too but there were already unc ones released so i'm not sure it'll ever be worth anything.
Yes, but they are simulated circulated finish--they are uncirculated coins with an antiqued finish that looks circulated---kind of unique.
Bought this Indian half Eagle described as a Philadelphia Mint.....but surprise it 's a San Francisco coin........a coin to behold....
few more barbers for the dime book, the quarter came with the lot, and a 1918 Lincoln for less than $7!
