Well, after months of contemplating on how to store and organize my ancients (this was a awhile ago). I finally concluded by using flips and pages. My collection of ancients are still small so its manageable for now.

Besides the flip and pages I also have a digital page with as much info. I can get about the coin with the picture of the coin on it.

I have seen bing's system, and it's pretty impressive....very well organized. most of my ancients are in 2x2 flips in boxes, moderns are in flips in albums...and poorly organized. I like the look of the trays and have been debating getting some for almost a year now.

This is a very good system. I will adopt it.

It appears that ancient collectors are a minority in numismatics. this is probably a good thing supply-demand-wise.

Are there shows that feature ancients? Where do ancient collectors gather in real time and space?

NYINC is one of the biggest shows in the world for ancient and world coins. I couldn't get there last year, but I'm hoping to go, come this January.

Actually, I've got a Suburban that seats six in style. If any of you guys on the East Coast want to arrange a pick-up point somewhere outside of Manhattan, I'll drive us all in to the show. PM me.

Keep me posted on your show plans, it would be cool to see you and other CTers in the real world. I'm going!:woot:

If you're in Cincinnati, your best course of action would be to just fly into NY, of course. But yeah, let's not miss the opportunity to meet each other. I should post a thread and get a roll call.

Yep, got some frequent flyer points that I'm going to burn for this. Yes, post to get a list of those going...it would be way useful to me to have an opportunity to confer on coin targets before I go off the deep end in the heat of the event.

It's easy to buy stuff at shows that you don't want. I've done it, we've all done it. Come home and say, "What the hell was I thinking?" lol

    I think it's the kid-in-a-candy-store effect.

Not complicated at all, and if you know how to use Excel, you may find it's quite simple. Here are some images to illustrate:

That's more-or-less what I do, Bing. Keeps all your information in one place, and the coins don't take up any large amount of space, and you can sit in your recliner with a wee dram and page through your collection.

Sometimes I think many of us are cut from the same cloth. Except for the "wee dram". I prefer a larger portion myself.
