If the initial 150K sets dont sell out within two months then will that be the final mintage ? On the reverse, the lettering and border will each receive a heavy laser frosting treatment. Other elements of the eagle will receive a standard (moderate) laser frosting treatment to enhance certain artistic detail. The stars will receive a laser polish technique to accentuate them against the field. One uncirculated coin from the U.S. Mint at Denver Strong Obverse How many sets will you buy ? October 28th 2014 $99.95 Limit 5
I will buy at least one for personal collection purposes. But I may buy more for gifts and what not. Not sure there will be a significant secondary market for these for many years, but who knows for sure. I do like these jfk sets very much.
One for me. I am undecided about having it graded. I am not a dealer so I will either wait and take the chance that grading won't significantly elevate the price right away and get it on E-Bay or buy from mint and put it away for the future.
One would think so but I don't "think" that this will be the case. But then, there were some recent Silver Eagle Sets that didn't sell as much as I thought they would so it's difficult to really say. I know that I will definitely be in for 3 sets. Come Hell or High Water (In the words of Rowan Pope).
I agree sales can be verry strong out of the gate for example. Don’t miss out on special sets, scheduled to be released this year that offer collectors and numismatists the ideal opportunity to mark this significant anniversary.
Heh. I enjoyed the little note about the gold Kennedy order limits: "Why won't people buy our heavily-surcharged, unlimited-mintage curiosity? Just because our 'lucky early purchasers' are selling them on eBay for $50-100 less than the current Mint price..."
Decent looking set ~ 300,000 mintage means that every one who would like one should have a chance. This is good news, I am in for 2 sets ~ one set is for a friend.
Glad there will be a mintage limit, but I'm not planning to try and play "Cash In" - just getting one set.
I am still trying to decide how many to get. $500 max is not a HUGE gamble, so I might go for 5. I JUST got an email from a company saying they will be buying, but it did not have the details on the offer yet. They said more info to come. On $500 investment, I am guessing maybe $25-$50 over your costs. I want to keep at least one, so I might buy 5 to sell to the company buying, then buy a couple more using a different address for myself to keep.

I'll be getting one set. Stewart, not sure where you got your math from, but you need to take into account the minting process and handling of the coins. I get what you are saying though. You're not interested in these halves and feel the mint is over charging for them. While I somewhat agree with what I perceive to be your point, you can't ignore the cost of minting.
With my OCD for "prefect" mint products I'll probably buy 5 to cover my butt. Pick the best of the bunch and sell the rest just to recoup cost vs. making a profit.
