No prob mr. I soaked it in the wifes gold jewelry cleaner. Its going good so far. Its a mild solution of acetone.
I thought all jewelry cleaners were acid based. You needed 100% acetone. It is not an acid. You can't use jewelry cleaned on coins.
NO! not the jewelry cleaner! And wow, a detecting coin? I've been detecting since about 1989 and never found one congrats
Ha ha ha its acetone! Ill post some pics when i get all the gunk off. Looking good so far! Has anyone tried the freeze method on coins i heard it worked well. Freeze ur coin in water and then crack the ice off. Heard works good gonna try it with and old indian next time i find one and do before and after pics
Personally I would leave it in Acetone for a week or three. Should clear the rest. Alternatively, you should get it professionally cleaned. From what I read, it's a potentially pretty valuable coin. Many congrats.
Really that long huh? I have been just dipping it for a few minutes at a time and letting it dry. I was worried to long would ruin it.
If you put in PURE ACETONE you will just have change it out once a day. If you put in in jewelry cleaner it will eat the coin to nothing. That is why you do not use it.
