"Intercept" does not mean "hijack mail vans", Josh. In this case it simply means to get one's hand on the package prior to delivery at it's intended destination. One example (of many) could be by following the tracking and requesting the package be held at the post office for pick up.
It could actually be worse if they drew money from your bank instead of your Paypal balance. When Paypal dips into your bank account, they don't care if you actually have the money in your account or not, they'll happily drive you into a negative balance. Even if you do have a separate Paypal account and you don't have to worry about bounced checks, most banks are going to be rather unhappy with you for having a negative balance and start issuing fees, close your bank account, hit your credit rating, etc. If I'm going to get ripped off, I'd much rather have it come from a Paypal balance than siphoned off a bank account.
Pre-paid debit card. If you don't have the funds, there isn't a darn thing paypal can do about it as their request is simply declined, which means no bouncing or negative balances. And yes... unless things have changed, these can be used with paypal as both your "bank account" and "card", and offer a nice added level of protection. Sure, one has to pay the monthly fees for the card on top of ATM fees, etc, but is a worthwhile option for anyone concerned with the above.
Qwintry suites is a warehouse that items can be shipped to then reshipped out of the country or anywhere for that matter. Almost impossible to trace the final destination. This is how Russia was able to trick me on an EBay item. Then after a month they opened a case and said they did not receive what they thought they were to get. There are so many scams out there. Uncharted water for most.
4 of the 5 sellers have issued refunds. One of those 4 is still pending. The 5th seller has acknowledged me, and said they would be working on issuing the refund. I have heard nothing from my police or the portland police.
I'd be more worried about virus/malware installation from clicking on a phishing link than I would be my password. When I make a mistake like that, I go crazy verifying my machine has not been compromised.
It must be a relief to be getting anything back. Hopefully all gets put back and your stress levels come down.
When it rains it poors... I just checked my email, and I got info that a buyer from about 2 months back opened up a credit card charge back on a nearly $400 item, saying they did not authorize the purchase. I have usps signature confirmation showing they signed for it, so I hope that protects me, but who knows.
Bank wouldn't protect you in most circumstances, since the actual transfer to Paypal is authorized. Having $0 in your Paypal affords you the same protection as having $XXXX in your Paypal. Either way, Paypal is the one you'd need to deal with to get the money back. The only exception would be if your only Paypal linked things are credit cards. That *might* protect you through chargebacks.
That's actually odd. If you sold the item on eBay, Seller Protection would prevent you from being affected by chargebacks. The Signature Confirmation should also be attached to your Paypal and eBay accounts. The thing that sucks is USPS recycles tracking numbers rather frequently.
I did not read every post here, so if this has already been mentioned I apologize. You should check with your postmaster and get them involved too, its mail fraud.
