Richmond Confederate 5 dollars. Sept 2nd 1861

    Hiya would just like to confirm that this is a fake as ive seen other notes on internet with same serial

    Same serial but also colors are all wrong, this note is black and green inked, no orange at all.

    Here is mine (it's a bit rough, don't judge...):

    Thanks MEC2 that defiantly clears that up. No judging here, Better to have a rough one rather than have a fake one lol.
    Compared to yours mine looks like its been done on a printer

    The ink is also a giveaway. Actual inks from that era had iron in them and rusted (turned brown) over time.

    So the orange pattern is where the ink has changed colour over time because of the iron in the ink.
    All one can do is:
    Learn, learn, learn

    Not so much. I believe that ink was printed orange.

    I was referring to the ink in the hand-written signatures and serial numbers. Those turn brown over time. They shouldn't be black.

    That example looks like a mid to late 1950s "tribute" printing.

    It's a 1962 Topps Chewing Gun reprint. You need to also be aware that it's the incorrect size, as yours is smaller than a US dollar. So for future reference, not only is the look all wrong, so is the size (it should be larger than a US dollar).
