Made from clad coinage, the have a copper colored background...just cool. http://www.thisiscolossal.com/2013/12/hobo-nickels-paolo-curcio/
Hobo nickels are very cool and the ones you posted are beautiful and I think hard to come by. Here is the only one I own. Believe it was done with only a hammer and nail. They are all very fascinating.
Wow. Looking at that makes me want to commission one. It would probably be out of my price range, however.
Buying one he already made would be cool, but I meant giving him a topic/design. Still, that Sleep Hollow one is sweet!
There is no denying the talent involved with the modern pieces, but they leave me cold. The contemporary pieces that are well done are the ones I find fascinating.
True works of art the whole group! Thanx for showing a unique art form I thought was all over and done.....
I've never been much of a fan of art that damages coins. I've never been an art collector. I've never been very willing to spend big money on something with a narrow market. These coins completely smash all three objections. I am in awe.
I like this "hobo" version of a S. Korean 100 Won coin. Skulls/skeletons seem to be popular among hobos, huh? Admiral Yi becomes a Mexican "Dia de los muertos" character(!)
that was sbutron13 that pointed it out to me... didn't even think about the date being so far up, was just in aww from the sweet art.
