This just arrived. I thought it worthy of sharing. I know it's a common coin type of Constantine the Great but it has a certain amount of eye appeal that called to me. I don't collect these at all. Constantine the Great - AE3 Obv:- IMP CONSTAN-TINVS MAX AVG, Laureate helmeted cuirassed bust right Rev:- VICTORIAE LAETAE PRINC PERP, Two Victories holding shield inscribed VOT PR over Altar. Star on Altar Minted in Ticinum, (//ST). A.D. 319 Reference:- RIC VII Ticinum 87 (Rated R4) Martin
I don't collect them either but it's plain to see why this appealed to you. The centering and strike are marvelous, the relief high, and preservation excellent!
Very nice. Since I love history, I enjoy getting ancient coins from time to time. This is very beautiful. I think it's a good pick up.
Very, very nice. I love when the faces of the deities on the reverse can be seen. Since you don't collect them, I have an idea........
Wow, Martin => that coin is super-cool (both, the obverse and the reverse are awesome => I love the Victorys ... Victories?) Great new pick-up!!
It's a common type, but highly uncommon in that condition. I've been looking for just such a piece to no avail. Well-done, sir.
