Picked up this pair which was very attractive in hand. Didn't realize how many varieties there are to the Caracalla Denarii.

Roman Empire. Caracalla AR Denarius. Rome, 198-217 AD. 19mm, 3.53gr. Obv: Laureate and draped bust right, seen from behind. Rev: Dea Caelestis seated facing, head turned right, holding thunderbolt and scepter on lion galloping right over rushing waters. RIC IV 130a; BMCRE 280; RSC 97. Superbly struck coin, beautiful design. NGC Ch AU 5/5, 5/5.

Nicely done Z-Man! Caracalla denarii have some of the best portraits on Roman coinage imo. And some of the widest variety of portraiture. From kid to young man to bearded fierce face.

    Here is my example:

    Caracalla; AD 198-217
    Silver Denarius; 17mm/3.2 g
OBV: ANTONINVS PIVS AVG BRIT, laureate head right
REV: MARTI PROPVGNATORI, Mars walking left, holding spear and trophy.

Very nice new additions, Zohar. I especially like the detail on the lion.

    Some of my favourites...

    Wow, a couple more top-notch examples (congrats, Z444) ...

Caracalla, eh? ... well, I don't have a denarius, but I do have an antoninianus
    hangin' around here somewhere ...

I like these Caracalla coins. There seems to be plenty in good quality avaiable at decent prices. Here are a few of mine:
