Ok guys, I was wanting to know some definitive information on the difference between the 1955 DDR Proof Jefferson nickel and the 1955 TDR Proof Jefferson Nickel. From what I see in the CP's Guide is the TDR listed for that date, but noticed some older slabs had coins in them marked as a double die, instead of the TDR as FS-035. Would that have something to do with it not being known that there was a Triple Die for this year, and it was assumed it was a double die? Or is there actually two different versions of the doubling on this coin?
Absolutely, there are two versions of this doubling, one being a double and one being a triple? Or Absolutely, the TPG just designated it as a DDR before it figured out the coin was actually a TDR?
There are actually 11 different mis-hubbings on the proof 1955 nickel. Die #1 is the tripled die. See the CONECA master listing (http://varietyvista.com/).
