I think I've decided to "slab" all my higher end coins in blank DIY slabs. My question is this: which blank slabs do people like: coin world, BCW, etc... I wanted to get people's opinion then buy a few and see if they work for me. Any input is greatly appreciated!
Most slab-style holders are not only cheesy in my opinion, but are comparative (to Air-Tites, etc) junk. The one exception is the Coin World "Old ANACS-style", which are really quite nice overall and offer a fine storage method for one so inclined. Please note that these are not the Coin World "premium" holders, which are vaguely similar to PCGS and are a waste of time and money IMO.
Some good info in this thread... https://www.cointalk.com/threads/coin-slabs-how-would-you-rate-this-one.240046/#post-1833780
I would start with Coin World/Amos. The last I knew they still had both styles, but this was some years ago.
Awesome! I started with airtites which are great but I have not seen a good way to store them with labels. I saw the display cards but that doesn't give enough room for a label. Am I missing a great product for this. If so, I would be happy to use that instead of slabs.
Thank you everyone for such prompt and excellent advice. I'll probably try out those anacs style slabs then. It looks like with shipping they are about a buck a piece. I can't help but ask...any great ideas for storing/displaying large medals(40mm to 90mm). I'm currently storing them in poly bags. Would love a nice way to protect them, label them, and display them but have not found any good options. Even the largest airtites are too small and many of these medals are too thick for airtites. Any great ideas out there?
