Swedish plate money. They were made as substitutes for silver coinage from 1644-1776. The one denomination I have never found one I want of is the 1/2 daler.

I have heard of the plate money, but never seen it for sale. Thanks for posting the pictures.

That looks pretty reasonable in the lower grades. I talked briefly with a dealer at the coin show this weekend and these came up. He said that pretty much they sell immediately when they come up for sale.

Here is a 1932 Swedish coin that commemorates the 300th Anniversary of the death of Gustaf II.

I had also promised you gold! And gold you shall have! (for anyone who didn't see my "It's raining World Gold" thread)

Bought this on a Great Collections auction a couple of weeks ago for close to melt (then, anyway).

One of my favorite swedes is the golden 5 - kronor of Gustav V. In the year it was issued the covercharge at the Nobel - prize dinner was 5 kronor. I believe this coin really was send out into circulation, although it probally did not circilulate much, as the swedish public did not like the tiny 2 g goldpieces, but rather went for the 5 kroner banknotes. The reluctance of using a 5 kronor coin in fact kept on until the last paperfiver was withdrawn in 1982.
If you are looking for a genuine old goldcoin wich does not cost you too much go for this " gustavian " fiver. 5 k 1920 Av.JPG 5 Kr 1920 Re.JPG

I like the 5 Kr too, but they sell for a substantial premium.
