I bid on an anonymous auction on Wed. But this item had a very detailed description that added up to what the reference book said. It was located in the U.S. And the photos were clear; they weren't tilted and I suspect the token and camera were even in the same room. I could actually see all the details. Hey this guy might be on to something. Well I paid for it Wed night at 7:00 PM. I already got it- 3 days from California. Seems like everything was working here, even the Post Office. And the token is exactly as the photos.
Prepare for future purchases - send the Seller a friendly note saying how much you liked the coin, and that you've added him to your eBay Favorites. He will remember your gracious comments.
I completed my 50th purchase on eBay this week. Still waiting for my first issue. Should I buy a lottery ticket?
No seller I.D. I never bid in one until now because the descriptions were always vague and the photos bogus looking.
I've rarely had a BAD eBay transaction. I don't buy most of the more expensive coins there, but I've bought plenty and been mostly pleased.
Nearing my 2,500th eBay transaction and can count the number of bad experiences on both hands....well, it may take a few toes too. Bad news has a tendency to travel faster than good; I guess a smooth transaction lacks the edge-of-your-seat excitement of a horror story, but we definitely need more threads like this one! Good going all around!
This is my experience, too. And when selling, I've always done the same: Provide the best photos I can get, accurate and conservative description, and I mail it out immediately upon payment. ...Then again, I usually only sold a few items at a time: I didn't own a store.
Can someone provide a link to one of these "anonymous auctions"? I've never heard of them, never seen one, and a quick Google search turns up nothing obvious.
I have had a few transactions 'go south', in where I've needed to have ebay buyer protection step in. However, when a transaction goes smoothly, and the shipping is quick, I always try to give a little free advertising, as I know others would prefer a seamless transaction. How about the sellers name??? Congrats on finding a reliable, honest seller!
