This merc set http://cgi.ebay.com/Complete-Mercur...0QQihZ009QQcategoryZ41091QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem appears to be on the up and up until you read the description. That 16 D is F to VF, NOT EVEN IF I WERE BLIND!!!!! Same goes for the 21 and 21d and it makes me wonder if he is upgrading those AGs to VFs what those AU/BU coins are maybe good fine-12s, maybe VF who knows, its a crapshoot folks. I hate it when people fantastically overgrade then try and sell it to the unsuspecting, I hope it sells for just what it is sitting at now but I won't hold my breath:loud:
Couldn't agree with you more. I've just started a Merc set so I'm no expert on grading by any means! The ones in the 2x2s look pretty good but the ones you mentioned are a far cry from AU/BU. In his defence, in the description he does mention 'mostly AU/BU. I'm kind of curious to see what this sells for.
Well, it says: This is the most complete set on the internet! It is compiled of mostly Choice AU/BU coins. So it does not say they are all AU/BU, but its a little misleading. -Rob
The 1916 D is far from fine. I put it at AG-G. He does say though he is not good at grading (That is apparent) but people will hopefully see that it is not fine-very fine. Hopefully being the key word. Phoenix
It seems you can grade a coin at any grade you want as long as you say that you're no expert. I've seen a "fine" advertised as a ms67.
