Hello... I purchased a few Morgan Silver Dollars Graded with VAM in the description, what exactly does VAM mean? I looked at the coins closely but can't figure out what is different about them.... Thank You...
VAM is an acronym for Leroy Van Allen & A. George Mallis, the authors of the Comprehensive Catalog and Encyclopedia of Morgan & Peace Dollars. They are credited with developing the classification system of varieties for Morgan and Peace dollars. You can go to the VAMWorld site and check the listings for each variety by date and mintmark. http://www.vamworld.com/Morgan+VAMs+By+Date Chris
Yeah Anacs attributes all of them but pcgs and ngc do not. Here is a NGC fish hook vam morgan on eBay http://www.ebay.com/itm/1904-O-MORG...38?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item4628660d4e
