Thoughts in this 1942/1 Mercury Dime?

No clue. I wasn't an ebay "cop" either but some of the stuff was just so obvious I couldn't help but to report it. What with all the junk listed there along with the copies/alterations/counterfeits/overgraded/misrepresented/misattributed etc etc etc it's hardly worth even going there anymore. Unfortunately, even with Great Collections in the mix the choices are very limited.

I once had EMR privileges for Trade Dollars and it worked pretty well. Ebay has pretty much given up on the auction model and is leaving it as a free for all, take your chances. I think they want to be more like Amazon but are lagging behind.

 

I think it's a genuine coin but the "1" has been "chased" from the field. It's definitely had some kind of alteration done at the date.

 

BigTee44-is there a depression to the left of the spurious "1?"
