My type set is coming along, slowly, and sometimes it feels like I'll never get it done. But, then sometimes the right coin comes along at the right price and it feels perfect. Yesterday was one of those days. I was just browsing, with no intention of picking anything up until the show (semi-big) this weekend when I spotted this little half dime in the tray. As hard as they are to find in semi-decent condition without major problems I went ahead and snapped it up and was able to fill the last half dime hole in my 7070. The owner had it marked a 63 but I personally feel the coin is no better than an AU-58. I see a teensy bit of wear on the breasts and leg, although the reverse may be more weakly struck than worn. Maybe it is just one of those AU-63s we talk about on here.
That's a beauty for sure! Does the dings/marks on the obverse flat field left of lady liberty do anything for the rating? Is this why you were thinking AU rather than MS?
