It's pointless in asking as the carrion eaters have swooped onto the thread with their pointless and continued jabs. Profit Man obviously has little numismatic knowledge and any hopes of expanding that knowledge is slowly being eroded away. Yes, he can get on your nerves but IMO, he did ok with this coin at only $20 and folks should acknowledge that fact. Instead, he gets blasted with an unfounded claim that its counterfeit!
A good way to go more toward authenticity would be to weigh it. Any jeweler can do it for you, or a chem lab at a college or high school.
Since when is it against the rules to post picture of coins or ask for grades? As far as I know there is no limit to asking question or just starting threads. I don't know why so many people get upset with profitman, but still post to his threads. He has broken no rules. And that's all I have to say about that.
Because he doesn't want to learn anything about numismatics. He wants someone else to do the work for him. No, he hasn't broken any rules, but at what point does mamma tell him flat out to make his own dang bed? Chris
Why be so judgmental? Just ignore his threads if you don't want to share your knowledge. Yes, he can be irritating but WE, really have NO Idea who this person is. He might be 10 years old. He might have some cognitive reasoning challenges. He might be a troll or he might just be someone is not well versed in communication. Personally, I have nothing to protect on this or any other forum. So, I'll just call them like I see them regardless of how many times the same old silly questions get asked. Who knows, maybe I can still learn something.
Go back and read his comments (or lack thereof) in his other threads. He doesn't deserve help from anyone. Chris
The OP coin is real... Bad photos don't help any and probably make it look weird... But it's definitely real.
I think this is the second thread of his where he has posted a real coin and people have stated it was fake. Not sure if people are just trying to screw with him, but other people will read these threads and get bad information not knowing profitmans history.
CT-er's can ONLY make a judgement based on the photos or scans. NO other info is available unless we also see the results of weighing, chemical test, measurement, etc., and if those are available, there's scant reason to ask the question. If you're worried about the impression(s) other visitors might get, how about bragging about having a coin library and never reading any of the books?? That runs counter to everything this website stands for.
Lower your noses. We are coin collectors, not royalty. Just because you read some books doesn't make you an authority, especially judging by some of your responses
TBH, I don't think I could tell without having it in hand. I wasn't kidding about Chinatown though. They don't even mark them as fakes :\
I love the possible choices you have listed for me to consider. Funny but I didn't see rocket scientist or brain surgeon on your list.
Because you could tell from his writing style that he is neither. Just someone trying to find something. Anything. And there is nothing wrong with that............
