It took a lot of patience ignoring the 4x offers, but a few days ago, after buying nothing since August 6th, I got a 10x offer.

I used it to buy the Liberty Seated Half shown here. It was a little overpriced, but I got 10% eBay bucks plus an extra 1% because I spread the payment out over 6 months with Paypal Credit plus another 2% back in cash because the dealer uses MyStore Rewards. That made up for the extra premium and I'm very happy with the coin.

I do the same thing. The only good offers are the 10% eBay bucks and the 10% off. Great opportunity to negate the premium on a coin that catches your eye.

And here, we have one explanation for the "eBay premium" observed on some nice coins. Occasionally, the people you're bidding against are being subsidized to the tune of 10% by eBay.

Conversely, if you're trying to sell on eBay, you're getting undercut by the high-volume store-holders who enjoy lower eBay and PayPal rates.

I'm not saying that this is particularly fair or unfair, just that this is the way it is.

Okay, and that I'm a little bitter that I haven't received any good eBay offers lately.

I sell there once in a great while, but I'm not trying to earn even part of a living that way so I don't care too much what they charge me. I'm sure it's very hard for the little guys - it always is.

I like the PayPal credit. I think they gave me $20 to sign up and I have never yet paid any finance charges - and never will. It makes it easier for me to buy better coins and also stretches out my purchases so that those big offers are more likely.
