Don't think my favorite coin will change for quite a while. This is about as good as it gets when it comes to my personal collection so far. Heraclius Gold Solidus aEF, luster, tight flan, graffiti on obverse and reverse, 4.336g, 19.3mm, 180o,8th officina, Constantinople mint, 639(?) - 641 Obverse - Heraclius in center taller with mustache, long beard; standing with Heraclius Constantine on right, Heraclonas on left, sons beardless and equal height, all wear crown, chlamys and tablion ornamented with pellets, and hold globus cruciger in right; Reverse - VICTORIA AVGu H, cross potent on three steps, Heraclian monogram left, E right, CONOB in ex As for my favorite song, that's harder to choose and it changes every time. I'm in a prog metal mood right now though. This song has a real uplifting chorus (as does a lot of this band's songs really).
OMG ... I think I found the ultimate song where I like the remake more than the original? => knock-knock-knockin' on heaven's door!! ... huh, maybe not? (man, they're both sooo fricken cool, eh?)
Fitting the the Probus shown on this page, here is my horseback coin that was cleaned by a fellow collector. My most favorite tune in the moment is a stupendous piano cover of a Heavy Metal song. Trajan AE Dupondius. Rome mint, struck 107-110 AD. IMP CAES NERVAE TRAIANO AVG GER DAC P M TR P COS V P P Radiate bust r., with drapery on l. shoulder S P Q R OPTIMO PRINCIPI Trajan on horseback r., spearing down fallen Dacian; in exergue, S C Cohen 506 (3 Fr.), BMC 902, RIC 538, CBN 331, Woytek 318bC
I had to fix-up the sweet ol' OP-Thread song .... Man, it's gotta be my favourite song "ever" ... => 40 years later and it still gets me all fired-up!! (total winner!!)
I wish I had been born a generation earlier, so that I could have heard Callas sing live, and Renata Tebaldi, and Mario del Monaco, to name a few favorites.
Maria Callas may be gone, but at least today we have BABYMETAL . Oh yeah, this needs a coin... here's a Phistelia obol I haven't posted before. Glad to see this ol' thread again .
that's awesome (I was only 10 years old that night in 1973 when Hocus Pocus was belting-out that cool tune!! => great memories) => oh, and Babymetal is also fricken amazing (that's just crazy!! ... nice!!)
