It is Die Deterioration damage (doubling appearance). The closeness of the "L" in Liberty to the edge indicates the spreading of the die from center outward to the rim due to over use of the die's life. Jim

That's just how they come out when they're struck, Justin. These aren't struck with cookie-cutter precision, but very rapidly, like machine-gun fire. Under a scope you're you're going to find these irregularities. To one degree or another, they're on every coin. They're not "collectable" because they're just striking abnormalities, they're not errors or die varieties.
