My letter carrier just delivered my Washington dollars from Denver, already had Philly Dolls; I also got rolls of Kennedy Halves and 3 Uncirculated sets. The Mint sent them out on Sat the 17th and by way of standard mail (Parcel Post) and with the holiday on Monday I would say that was quick.:hail:  I found the different type Philly Dollars in my Bank rolls. I wonder if I should open the Mint wrap rolls? The box with the Washington dollars in it is stamped 07:20-- 01-31-07
They were from a company in Pa. thats wraps them for PNC Bank I have not opened the white box from the mint with the dollars in it so will be surprise when I look ( soon )
On that one order that kept saying suspened, I just looked at it and it now says Order # xxxxxxxxxxxx Order Date: 02/15/2007 at 06:14 PM Order Status: Your order request is in process PRESIDENTIAL DLR SUBSCRIPTION - QTY 10 1 $0.00 $0.00 1 unit shipped on 02/21/2007 2007 G. Also, could they really be shipping out the Pres Proofs??? 1st line item says shipped 02/21/2007!!!! Anyway, good to see some progress and that the rest of you alls stuff is rolling in....
Mines said exactly what yours did, suspended. I went and ordered another couple of rolls just in case, and those came up as in process right away. I guess it was a glitch during the day of the 15th. Now my suspended order has changed to exactly what yours is, in stock and reserved. I was a little surprised to see the 2-21 date indicating the proof sets were shipped, until I remembered that's how it's always listed when you set up a subscription. In any case, they need to use a better system to describe condition of orders.
Friends Mullen and Buck, I see you both ordered rolled coins from each mint and obviously you're both comfortable with paying the premium over face value. Would you mind explaining your rational, maybe I'm not thinking about this in the correct manner. Thanks, Douglas
You have a valid question here Douglas. Banks sell hem for 25.00 dollars if you are willing to wait a very short time to get the rolls. The coins aren't any different when you get them from the banks. The only problem is that the banks ususally only get coins from one mint or the other so finding both mint marks can be tough. We get mostly Denver mint rolls in my area but we are right on the border between the two mints and I can get either. My local coin dealer has a box of each type and sells them for 35.00 dollars a roll-A little pricey for me.
I should have clarified mine. I get my Denver rolls at the mint, but don't have access to Phillys, so it's either buy a bank roll off ebay, as I don't have a dealer close by, or get them from the mint. I don't search these. I just keep them in the rolls they came in. And in my case, if I'm looking at resale at some time, or after I'm gone from this world, the mint rolls seem to bring a premium over the bank rolls, and right now they are costing just about the same. That being said, it still frosts me to have to pay the premium the mint charges. What irritates me even more is when I purchase the Kennedys and Sacs of recent years. The only way to get them is through the mint or the secondary market, so I'm really stuck on those. But I voluntarily shell out my money because I want to keep my roll sets current.
1st. I guess have more money than sense... Which in itself is pretty sad, especially if you have seen W2s for the last few years... 2nd. I know they are the same coins, but the wrappers are different... The ones from the mint have ""Mint"" wrappers... VS, Bobs Coin rolling Service... From what I have seen at shows and shops, Mint rolls go for a more than bank rolls... Also, more than the resale value, I kind of like to collect actual "US Mint" packaged products... 3rd like others have said... I can get one mint here (Denver), I doubt I'll ever see the (P) ones here... So while I can and have gotten rolls from the bank, I could never have a matching set.... Now I'll have a few D and P rolls from each Mint... Just like the 2004, 2005 and 2006 Nickel Rolls... EX: a pair of Nickel rolls on Ebay Item # 140068335580 is going for like 24.00 + S&H.... The "Bank Rolls" I saw were going for wayless...
If you do not open the rolls you will miss any errors and I think the paper can damage the coins in time
It reminds me of the unopened Baseball Card packs. So really the Mint wrapper may be a bad thing :headbang:
if you get intercept boxes neither will the coin go bad nor will they lose color whats more even the paper shouldn't decay (in theory) as all the gases will be absorbed
I was thinking about not even opeing the Mint boxes.... All my 2004-2006 Nickels rolls are not opened yet... Natural toning???
Here is the Washinton Rolls and box from the MINT Much nicer then the ones from the bank They were ordered on the 15th I got them on the 22nd not bad. The box they came in is stamped 01-31-2007
Well the job of those boxes is to prevent any sort of toning so if you want toning stat away from intercept
That's what I'm talking about, the "D" on the wrapper. Has ANYBODY seen this wrapper at/from a bank? Thanks, Douglas
Yes I could not help myself I had to look at the wrappers I can seal up the box. Do you think the Mint box is good as the commercial ones ?
