I too would open it, I'm a hopeless romantic though and the passion of this could be the one!!! Would out way even the disappointment if it were just a placket without edge lettering, besides I enjoy the gamble and also I would be saving some other poor soul the disappointment too lol

 

We all know that Matt is not interested in modern coins, so he should sell it for the mystery premium.

 

That is true, the mystery premium isn't a gamble at all, but something you could definitely bank on for a quick turn around, being that Matt doesn't care for moderns then I would agree on selling it as is too..
