so... you're trying to sell me a book you contributed to?

Is there something wrong with that?

It looks like a good read - I wish I had had it years ago when I acquired a handful of these coins. It's not my collecting interest at the moment, but best of luck on sales of your book, John. The more information collectors have about counterfeits, the better.

Even though I don't (yet) collect Eight Reales, the book looks great! I always enjoy Swamper Bob posts. Thanks for the heads-up :)

Yes, there is something wrong with that in this subforum. It is self promotion and either has to be in the advertising forums or linked to the signature line ( RULES)

It would be one thing if the self promotion was a scam or for a product that had no value to the members of the forum. This book is of great value to those who collect eight reales. And is written to benefit collectors.
And as John Anthony said, "The more information collectors have about counterfeits, the better."
But the forum rules are the forum rules. And so the forum members lose out in this instance. The forum members will be "protected" from being exposed to this book. :(

Oh I think the forum members are pretty exposed already. The point is the guy was warned, numerous times, that he was breaking the rules by doing what he was doing, advertising his book. But he chose to ignore the warnings.

If he had followed the rules, he could have advertised his book with every post he made. And nobody would have said a word. It wasn't fact that he was advertising, it was HOW he was doing it.
