Drusus Caesar AE As. Struck under Tiberius, 21-22 AD, 27.5mm, 9.3g OBV: DRVSVS CAESAR TI AVG F DIVI AVG N, Bare head left. REV: PONTIF TRIBVN POTEST ITER around large S•C. REF: RIC 45 (Tiberius), Sear RCV 1794, Cohen 2. This is another slot filler. I've been seeing more than a few low grade Drusus coins appear on the market lately. Some slightly better, some worse. I got this one along with the others because it was convenient and despite being low grade I like the coin. It will be a slot filler until I get a better one later down the road. This coin is also in the mail.
You're correct. There have been several on the market lately. I wonder why? Do you plan to clean it up or leave it as is? Mine (also a slot filler): DRUSUS AE As OBVERSE: DRVSVS CAESAR T I AVG F DIVI AVG N - Bare head left REVERSE: IMP T CAES DIVI VESP F AVG REST - Legend around large S C in center Struck at Rome 80AD 9.4g, 24mm RIC216, S2594
I don't know why either but I ain't complaining. lol I think I'm going to leave the coin as is because I think the coin has been cleaned a lot already. If the reverse is cleaned a bit, I don't see it revealing much more detail if any. That's a decent Drusus coin you have, Bing.
Wow, fellas => I'm droolin' over your Drusus'!! (Drusii??) => nice slot-filler, my cool friend (it is actually above slot-filler status ... a very sweet addition) => wow Manitoba, that's a super example (congrats) ... hey, don't be fooled by Bing's crafty sweet-talk!! Cheers, gang
